Harrison Ford net worth

By Spear's

American actor and film producer Harrison Ford is worth an estimated $230 million.

Born in 1942 to Dorothy and Christopher in Chicago, Harrison Ford graduated from Maine East High School in Park Ridge of Illinois. An introvert by nature, Harrison took drama classes during his last year of college to overcome his shyness. But the same classes apparently brought out the actor in him.

Ford did a few movie roles as an extra during the mid 1960s. All of his early films went uncredited until 1967, when his full name, ‘Harrison J Ford’, appeared on the big screen in the movie A Time for Killing.

Although Ford had no middle name, J was added by the producers of A Time for Killing to avoid confusion, as there was another famous star with the same name.

Unhappy with the roles being offered to him, Ford became a self-taught carpenter in order to support his wife and two sons.
While Ford was working as a carpenter for the rock band The Doors, Hollywood director George Lucas hired him to build cabinets at his home, which ultimately led to his first starring role in Lucas’ movie American Graffiti, released in 1973.

Later, The Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola hired Ford to expand his office and also offered small roles to Ford in two of his films — The Conversation (released in 1974) and Apocalypse Now (1979).

Harrison Ford rose to star actor status when Steven Spielberg’s movie Raiders of the Lost Ark was released in 1981. He played the character of swashbuckling archaeologist Indiana Jones. The action hit also spawned various sequels. In 1977, Ford’s collaboration with Lucas for a breakthrough role as Han Solo in Star Wars earned him various accolades for his portrayal of the brash and loveable rogue. The film’s two sequels, The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983), helped make him a star.

He received an Academy Award nomination for his work in 1985’s Witness.

Ford has appeared in an impressive array of movies throughout his career, earning $20 million per film with 15 percent of the film’s gross take at the box office at his peak.

According to a report, United States’ box office profits of Ford’s movies have touched $3.5 billion while worldwide grosses crossed $6 billion, as of July 2008.

Ford currently has three luxurious properties in the United States. He also owns H.F Productions, which produces Hollywood flicks, and has five private aircrafts. He is a private pilot of both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, and owns an 800 acre ranch in Jackson, Wyoming – approximately half of which he has donated as a nature reserve. The 71-year-old Oscar nominee was also recently spotted driving a $150,000 Jaguar XK 140.

He last appeared in the movie Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. His upcoming movie, The Expendables 3, is currently in filming stage.

Harrison Ford is currently married to his third wife, actress Calista Flockhart.
