A conversation with kidnapping specialists Control Risks today threw up an interesting graphic.

Analysing the first six months of 2012, it shows the countries that HNWs are most likely to be kidnapped in:

1) Nigeria
2) Mexico
3) India
4) Afghanistan
5) Venezuela
6) Pakistan
7) Iraq
8) Colombia
9) Brazil
10) Honduras

Quite obviously, the table illustrates a changing world. Latin America is no longer the global bad boy it once was, perhaps because of factors like Colombia’s FARC winding down and greater awareness in coca-hotspots. Now Asia, Africa and the Middle East pose greater threats as they get wealthier (if not necessarily more lawless).

This is pertinent stuff for HNWs visiting their overseas business empire.
