Top 5 Places for Breakfast Near the Olympic Park

By Spear's

If you’re heading to the Olympic Park for some London 2012 action – whether in the closing days of the Olympics or during the Paralympics – and don’t want to pay jumbo prices, here are some delicious places near the Park for you to grab breakfast or brunch before the starter’s pistol is fired. (They’re also good the rest of the year too!)

The Counter Café
7 Roach Road, London E3 2PA

Slap-bang in the middle of the Stour Space Art Gallery this relaxed little café has fantastic views of the Olympic Park. Combine that with excellent food, great coffee and a lovely, friendly atmosphere it is a great spot to grab a bite en-route to the games.

Railroad
120-122 Morning Lane, London E9 6LH

With a short, seasonal menu including interesting brunch options like Moroccan Eggs washed down with Square Mile Coffee this little café is achingly cool and pleasingly priced.

Hackney Pearl (pictured left)
11 Prince Edward Road, London E9 5LX

Awarded ‘Best New Café in London’ in the 2010 Time Out Eating and Drinking Awards, this very attractive café has a constantly changing menu but consistently great brunch. Word on the street is that the breakfast bap is excellent.

Leila’s Shop
15-17 Calvert Avenue, London E2 7JP

A little further away from the Olympic action is Leila’s Shop. A mix of small and communal tables squished together in front of the open kitchen, Leila’s serves a small selection of well-sourced dishes. The eggs, fried in oodles of butter, available with either sage or Serrano ham and served with toasted sourdough, are the best I’ve had in London.

Albion Caff (pictured left)
2-4 Boundary Street, London E2 7DD

If industrial, self made furniture is not for you then the Albion Caff is worth a visit. With a small produce shop at the far end and a mix of communal and single tables this busy café has an excellent brunch. The full English comes with home-made baked beans, which are fantastic.
