1. Cronuts

New York Pastry Chef Dominque Ansel’s ode to excess. Recently created, Cronuts have been described as a half croissant, half doughnut –hybrid that is purely sinful and delicious.

2. Fried Chicken 

Fried chicken fever in NYC runs the gamut from classic southern American-style buttermilk fried chicken to spice glazed Korean-style fried chicken, and everything in between.

3. Industry Night Parties 

A growing trend where some of New York’s top chefs and restaurateurs turn their stoves and bars over to their chef friends and mixologists on a monthly basis and throw a party to help bring together the restaurant community and to foster camaraderie over amazing inexpensive cocktails and complimentary late night food.

4. Roof Gardens

 More and more chefs are planting sustainable gardens on the roofs of their restaurants to better control the quality of their fruit and vegetables they serve to their guests.

5.   Barbecue 

New York has found itself in a barbecue renaissance over the past 10 years, and I’m glad to see such fantastic restaurants such as Pitt Cue Co. and Barbecoa start to bring their take on this regional American classic to London. After all, what’s not to like about succulent slow cooked smoky meats served with bourbon?
