Ronnie Wood at Castle Fine Art

By Spear's

Castle Fine Art is proud to present the single most important collection of artworks by Ronnie Wood, a modern music icon. His world-renowned musical career has sometimes overshadowed this unique talent and success in the visual arts, and it is surprising to many that Ronnie has been painting and drawing since he was just three years old – making the length of his art career surpass that of his unbelievable five decades in music.

Internationally acclaimed art historian Edward Lucie-Smith has remarked, “Who says you have to be good at only one thing? Ronnie is in the top flight as a musician, but he’s also a fully trained artist. And it shows.”

This impressive collection owes its existence to the dedication of one private collector. Over the last ten years this American businessman has been actively acquiring Ronnie Wood artworks from all over the world, with much of it directly acquired from Ronnie himself.

As a whole, the collection depicts the rock ‘n’ roll legend’s personal and engaging record of an evolving culture in the world around him from 1960 to the present day. The available works act as a pictorial biography of Wood’s thrilling life experiences, guiding us through half a century’s worth of life and music from the perspective of an incredibly talented individual.

At the heart of this collection lies an exclusive group of artwork comprised of unique, mixed media pieces on canvas and board. These works, commissioned by the private collector and in collaboration with Ronnie, celebrate the 50 year anniversary of the Rolling Stones. The pieces are tributes to Wood’s most famous original paintings, all of which now find their homes in private collections around the world.

Ronnie selected several of his favorite paintings – including Beggar’s Banquet, Sympathy For The Devil, Skulls on Stage, and selections from the Voodoo series to name a few – and recreated them in small quantities of unique versions that pay homage to his masterpieces. These brilliant pieces can now only be found at Castle Fine Art.

In addition to these exclusive mixed media unique versions, the collection also includes paintings, drawings, sketches, lyrics and other writings, hand-painted and embellished guitars and both unique and limited-edition prints. The subjects range from music and landscapes, to portraits, animals and even abstracts and impressionism.

Until August 2013, Castle Fine Art, Bruton Street
