Richard Ayoade net worth

By Suren Prasad

British comedian, actor, writer and director Richard Ayoade was born to Norwegian mother Dagny Amalie (née Baassuik) and Nigerian father Layide Ade Laditi Ayoade on May 23rd, 1977, in Hammersmith, London, but what is Richard Ayoade’s net worth?

How did Ayoade make his millions?

Ayoade’s stage career bloomed while he was studying Law at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge (1995-1998). During this time he was president of the Footlights (1997-1998) producing stage productions, which won him the Martin Steele Prize. Noteworthy programmes he wrote and acted in include the pantomimes, Sleeping Beauty and Grimm Fairy Tales. Ayoade also acted in Footlights’ touring shows.

Combining with Footlights mate Matthew Holness, Ayoade co-wrote the stage show Garth Marenghi’s Fright Knight (2000), which was nominated for a Perrier Award. In 2001, he co-wrote and performed its sequel, Garth Marenghi’s Netherhead, which won him the Perrier Award (now Edinburgh Comedy Award).

Ayoade and Holness returned in the horror spoof Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace (2004). Ayoade directed the show, while playing Dean Learner/Thornton Reed.
In 2006, he hosted the chat show Man to Man with Dean Learner and acted as Maurice Moss in the sitcom The IT Crowd, a performance that won him Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival (2008) and Best Male Comedy Performance BAFTA (2014).

He featured on the radio series The Boosh (2001), and the TV show The Mighty Boosh (2004-2007), during which time he acted in Nathan Barley (2005). He went on to co-author The Mighty Book of Boosh (2008).

Partnering The IT Crowd compadre Matt Berry, Ayoade co-wrote, directed and co-starred in AD/BC: A Rock Opera (2004).

Ayoade starred on the show Was It Something I Said? (2013) and also lent voice to The Twits (2013, Roald Dahl’s audiobook), Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy (2012-2014), the puppet animation Strange Hill High (2013-present) and the cartoon Danger Mouse (2015-2016).
His film appearances include Hello Friend (2003, short film), The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004), Festival (2005), Bunny and the Bull (2009), The Watch (2012) and a voice role in The Boxtrolls (2014).
Ayoade’s successful directorial venture in 2010 saw his comedy film Submarine (adapted from Joe Dunthorne’s 2008 eponymous novel) win the 2011 London Awards for Art and Performance and Ayoade was nominated at the 65th BAFTA (2012) for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer Director or Producer and won Palm Springs International Film Festival Directors to Watch Award. The film won the British Independent Film Award for Best Screenplay and Giffoni Film Festival Award for Best Film.

His second directorial venture, The Double (2013, comedy), got him the London Film Festival Award nomination for Best Film. His two pet Dachshunds appear in it.
Other directorial credits comprise music videos of the Arctic Monkeys, including a live DVD At the Apollo (2007), which won Best DVD at the 2008 NME Awards.
