Top Ten HNW Wealth Managers
Hoare’s is on a roll. ‘Despite some headwinds, 2017 was a very strong year for the bank and there continues to be demand for our offering,’ says Peter Gale, Spear’s Private Banker of the Year.
The dust has finally settled after the sale of the historic firm’s wealth management arm in 2017, freeing the popular Gale and his team to focus on high-quality relationship banking and lending. ‘It also means that we are now one of the few private banks in the UK to provide a pure banking service with no wealth management. This has led to the development of new relationships with wealth managers who are looking for banking relationships for their customers,’ he says.
A Hoare’s man since 2008, Gale began at financial consultancy Marschollek Lautenschläger & Partners before moving to Barclays Wealth to work as an investment manager advising Middle Eastern and Far Eastern HNWs.
His role at Hoare’s continues to develop: he recently stepped down as head of its entrepreneurs group, to make way for colleague Kieran Ahern and to assume an expanded role as head one of its private banking teams. ‘I felt it was time for some fresh leadership and Kieran was a natural successor, having been my number two for the past three years,’ he says.
