Top Ten HNW Wealth Managers
‘I was attracted to the idea of wealth management as it is all about relationship building,’ says Patrick Wilson. ‘The relationship that I have with my clients is what makes the role so enjoyable. My aim has always been to be their trusted adviser – someone who understands their circumstances, goals and aspirations.’
Wilson’s clients at Credit Suisse are predominantly corporate executives and entrepreneurs with discretionary portfolios. Clients also benefit from being part of a network of like-minded peers, leveraging the opportunity to meet each other at Credit Suisse events.
With the recent political uncertainty and instability in the UK, Europe and beyond, clients are increasingly leaning towards a global investment approach. ‘They want to see diversification in terms of assets but also geography,’ Wilson explains, which is good news for Credit Suisse. ‘Global banks with global research will benefit in this sort of environment.’
Clients are also increasingly frustrated with cash returns, he says, as hopes are repeatedly dashed of promised substantial interest rate hikes.
‘As a result they are taking a medium-term approach,’ says Wilson, ‘accepting a bit more risk and hoping for a higher annualised return over time while anticipating a bit more positivity in the short term.’
