‘For most agents, the first half of was really, really dire — and for me it was really, really good,’ says Hirst, Spear’s Property Adviser of the Year. Perhaps it’s no surprise she saw a ‘huge’ number of ‘very large’ transactions in 2015.
Hirst has also seen surging interest in rented properties, thanks to the ever-increasing tax burden on the prime market: ‘It’s not a stupid idea,’ she says, adding that instead of buying a £5 million property, ‘the stamp duty on that will rent you a very nice house for two to three years.’
Hirst began her career in property over twenty years ago by relocating bankers from Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and UBS to London. She later joined two of the most renowned buying firms in London — Property Vision and Prime Purchase — before striking out on her own five years ago. Now an eminent figure in the business of relocating HNWs from all five continents to prime central dwellings, she has a clear and important mantra: ‘I am a buying agent who only buys — and never sells.’
Peers unite in praise. ‘Nathalie is excellent. She operates at the top end of the market and feedback from clients is always positive,’ says an industry expert. ‘Incredibly nice. Incredibly hard-working. Incredibly successful. Interesting new column this year in the Metro. No idea where she finds the time,’ says another. ‘Even on a smaller deal, she applies the same levels of dedication and quality service and attention to detail.’
