Family Law Rising Stars
Credited by leading silks as ‘head and shoulders’ above peers, Ed Floyd is growing a name in the profession. One even notes that he displays outstanding forensic and client care abilities ‘way beyond his years’.
The momentum Floyd has built is reflected in his schedule. He is currently preparing a ‘complex, big-money’ case listed for a fifteen-day High Court hearing in November. He was also recently lead senior associate in the reported case of T v T, which focused on the use of the Brussels IIa Regulation to transfer a financial claim across EU jurisdictions. Other highlights include his work as lead associate with heavyweight partner James Stewart in securing a needs-based settlement for one Middle Eastern UHNW with assets over £1 billion. Much of his caseload carries an Anglo-Russian dimension, enabling him to draw upon his Russian language skills (he is also fluent in French).
‘The work is endlessly varied; no two days are ever the same,’ says Floyd, describing what draws him to family law. He also cites the opportunity to work with ‘the best people, the most interesting cases and the best barristers’.
