By Suren Prasad

American actress and pop star Demi Lovato’s net worth is reported to be $33 million.

Demetria Devonne Lovato was born to Dianna De La Garza (former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader) and engineer/musician Patrick Martin Lovato on August 20, 1992, in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was raised by her mom since the age of two in Dallas, Texas.
Lovato began playing the piano at seven and the guitar at 10, and also learnt acting and dancing. Due to bullying issues at school, she earned her high-school diploma through homeschooling (2009).

How did she make her millions?

Commencing acting with the TV series Barney & Friends (2002), Lovato later starred in Disney’s As the Bell Rings (2007-2009).
Her claim to fame came with a lead role in Disney’s TV film Camp Rock (2008), whose soundtrack included four of her songs.
Soon came Lovato’s debut album, Don’t Forget (2008), which shot to number two on the Billboard 200. The album earned around $3,500,000.
She then played the title role in the Disney sitcom Sonny with a Chance (2009-2011, salary: $12,000) and starred in the film Princess Protection Program. The soundtrack for Sonny with a Chance was also released in 2010, showcasing four songs by Lovato.
Her second album and Billboard 200 chart-topper, Here We Go Again, was released in 2009. Lovato’s Live in Concert, 40-city national concert tour (June-August, 2009) supporting the album raked in a reported $7,036,000. Sales from the album were estimated at $2,300,000.
In 2010, Lovato appeared in America’s Next Top Model and returned for Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. The soundtrack (third on the Billboard 200) included nine of her songs.
She released her third album, Unbroken, in 2011 (fourth on the Billboard 200). “Skyscraper”, the album’s lead single won Best Video With a Message at the MTV Video Music Awards 2012. The album’s second and last single, “Give Your Heart a Break”, topped the US Pop Songs chart and was certified thrice Platinum.
In 2012, Lovato was chosen as a judge on The X Factor (Season Two, American version) with a reported salary of $1 million (becoming a Guinness record holder as Youngest X Factor Judge at 19 years and 278 days). She returned for Season Three in 2013, with an estimated salary of $2 million.
Her fourth album, Demi (2013), claimed third position on the Billboard 200. The album’s singles, “Neon Lights” and “Really Don’t Care”, topped the US Hot Dance Club Songs.
Lovato acted in the fifth season of Glee and launched her book Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year (her New York Times bestseller), in 2013.
Her skincare line, Devonne by Demi, was unveiled in December 2014.
In 2015, Confident, Lovato’s fifth album, ranked second on the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold like her previous four albums. “Cool for the Summer”, its lead single, earned double Platinum certification.
Lovato has also won 14 Teen Choice Awards, five People’s Choice Awards, one Latin American Music Award, one ALMA Award and a Billboard Women in Music Award (the first-ever Rulebreaker Award).
Her 2017 ventures include voice-starring roles in Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017) and the upcoming film Charming (2017).
Lovato is associated with Wilhelmina Models agency (2015) and sportswear range Fabletics (2017).
