If you are in any doubt over the true definition of decadence, head to No. 11 and revel in it. Paul Davies, who recently took over the hotel, has revamped and sexed up this old London hangout, turning it into one of the best and most exclusive hotels in town.
Tucked behind Sloane Street, the hotel occupies four converted town houses. The rambling property feels more stately home than London hotel. One guest stayed six months and you understand why the moment you walk in. It’s impossible to tear yourself away if you are lucky enough to be invited for membership.

The dramatic suites and four serviced apartments are newly restyled and fabulous, each with its own statement Rococo four poster bed. Murano glass chandeliers abound in mahogany panelled rooms, dimly lit by oversized candles, creating an atmosphere of burlesque romance.
Hang out in the drawing room by the fire and sink into the cosy brocade sofas. While the hotel’s interior is new, Paul Davies has had the insight to retain the hotel’s original staff: David, the hotel’s butler, has been resident for twenty years and is a firm favourite with the regulars. VC
