Spear's IFC Forum
Spear’s will be engaging all of its readers — high net worths, wealth managers, lawyers — with a morning of panels and talks on IFCs, followed by a lunch, all at the storied Green’s in the City
IFCs have great importance to HNWs, helping them to secure, manage and increase their wealth away from the grasp of predatory governments, and our event will highlight (un)attractive IFCs, the benefits of going offshore and what every HNW needs to ask their advisers when planning to use an IFC.
Date: 22 November 2011
Panels and talks: 10am-1pm (including time for networking)
Lunch: 1-2.30pm
Venue: Green’s, 14 Cornhill
If you are interested in attending, email wendy@spearswms.com
10-11am
Networking and opporunity to talk to sponsors: Guernsey Finance, Barclays Wealth and KPMG
11-11.15am
Henk Potts of Barclays Wealth will talk on risks and opportunities for the global economy and financial markets in the year ahead.
11.15am-12pm
Use and choice of IFCs panel
Sponsored by Association Monégasque des Activités Financières
For any high net worth who needs their wealth managed, IFCs will be a key topic their adviser will discuss with them. Why should you send your money to a warmer clime? Are more obscure ones better? Which ones have which advantages? We will ask — and even answer — all these questions and more.
Panel includes: Sarah Cormacl, Withers; Guy-Thomas Levy-Soussan, AMAF; Claire Maurice, Maurice Turnor Gardner; Bernard Rousselot, AMAF.
12-12.15pm
Fiona le Poidevin of Guernsey Finance will talk about Guernsey as an IFC.
12.15-1pm
Future of IFCs panel
Sponsored by The Chedi, Andermatt
There are strong interests in the survival of IFCs — and in their destruction. They play a key role in contemporary global finance and wealth management, but some argue they keep legitimate tax from governments and impoverish developing countries. Meanwhile, bodies like the OECD and national governments are cracking down. Where next for IFCs?
Panel includes: Martyn Gowar, McDermott Will & Emery; Bruce Weatherill, Weatherill Executive Consulting.
The discussion will be followed by a presentation on The Chedi, Andermatt, by Olivier Beumer of Lansdowne RE.
1-2.30pm
Lunch and presentation of the award for most innovative financial centre, sponsored by Barclays Wealth.
